EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 1: The cultural troupe from the University of Jammu brought laurels by winning four prizes in the North Zone Inter-University Youth Festival, organized by the Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Govt. of India at Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar. Zain-ul-Abdeen-Bandey from the Department of Political Science, University of Jammu and Jasneet Kour from Govt. Women College, Parade, bagged Ist prize in elocution and photography, respectively. Mukteshi Sharma from Govt. Women College, Parade was adjudged third in classical vocal (solo) while the debating team comprising Zain-ul-Abdeen-Bandey and Aashima Puri from Govt. College of Engineering and Technology, Jammu bagged the third prize. The festival was inaugurated by Ashok. K. Mittal, chancellor, LPU in presence of Ramesh Kanwar, Vice-Chancellor while A.D.N, Bajpai, secretary general, association of Indian Universities, New Delhi, graced the valedictory function as the chief guest. Kulbhushan Thakur from the Department of Students Welfare, escorted the team. It may be mentioned here that Zain-ul-Abdeen-Bandey and Jasneet Kour, shall represent the University in the National Youth Festival to be held Nagpur University, Nagpur. Meanwhile Varun Sahni, Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Dean Students Welfare, N.K. Tripathi, Jasbir Singh, chairman, Campus Cultural Committee, Co-chairperson, Neeru Sharma and Shailendra Singh, Associate Dean (SW), have congratulated the team members for this rare honour.
