CHENANI (UDHAMPUR), Dec 1: Coming down heavily on Omar Abdullah led coalition regime, Former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that during the last three years the present regime has done nothing to address grievances of the people.
Former Chief Minister and patron of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed said that present regime has nothing to highlight as its three years achievement while PDP led coalition has scripted a new chapter of peace and development in Jammu and Kashmir and has changed political discourage of the state through its conviction and commitment..
Addressing a public meeting in Chenani town here today, PDP Patron Mufti Sayeed reminded the people that in the 2002 assembly elections only 16 members of PDP had changed fate of the people and earned credibility of the people through its visionary policies.
"Aim of PDP is not to attain power but to address grievances of the people," he said and observed that biggest achievement of his party was that it had connected itself with the common masses and restore confidence of the people in democratic institutions.
PDP-Congress coalition had not only restored peace in the state but also created conducive atmosphere for accelerating developmental activities in the State while targeting the NC regime he satirically said that the present regime has done nothing to address grievances of the people and has nothing to highlight as its three years achievement.
"Although we had just 16 members in the Assembly, our party had convinced successive governments at Delhi, through our convictions, to initiate some bold Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) to restore lasting peace in this region", he said, further adding, 'PDP had entered into alliance with Congress by formulating a Common Minimum Programme (CMP) in which wishes of all people were incorporated and pro-peace agenda was given first priority."
The PDP led coalition government had given a new direction to governance in order to address all these diverse issues effectively with the result that successive Prime Ministers could come here and reach out to the people and understand their problems. Speaking on the occasion PDP Patron Mufti Sayeed recalled the historic announcement made by then Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee from Srinagar in which he had extended hands of friendship towards Pakistan. He maintained that PDP through its conviction has forced successive governments at Delhi to initiate Confidence Building Measure (CBMs) to improve relations with Pakistan.
Reiterating resolve of his party to restore peace in this sub-continent, Mufti Sayeed said that Self-Rule document prepared by the party was only viable solution for addressing external and internal dimensions of Kashmir problem.
He said that this document has been prepared by incorporating wishes and aspirations of all regions and sub-regions of the state. He added that any formula to be forwarded for the solution of this vexed problem must have endorsement of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
