Omar takes another dig at MPs on Twitter | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Dec 1: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah who now and then has been in media limlights for his tweets now again has hit the news not for good cause but for criticising MPs with his latest tweet today. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah toady wrote on his microblog taking a dig upon the Member Parliament saying, "I want to drive to Parliament to disrupt it but I want to do it in a vehicle with a Lal batti on the roof otherwise I'm not important enough.' Worth to mention here that Committee of Privileges of the Lok Sabha, in a report placed in the House on Wednesday, nearly unanimously recommended that MPs be permitted to flash red beacons on their vehicles and their official status be brought on a par with chief justices of high courts. Taking dig at MPs with his latest tweet: 'I want to drive to Parliament to disrupt it but I want to do it in a vehicle with a Lal batti on the roof otherwise I'm not important enough.' Omar soon after the news aired about Ipods to the MPs tweeted: "Good to hear MPs have got iPads. Now other than all the work they can spend their free time playing "Angry Birds" in Central Hall.' It was a comment which seems to be linked to the recent report placed in the House seeking to enhance privileges and perks of MPs which has allowed them Ipods. Man who is often lands in troubled waters come with a comment after the recent sanction of Rs 50, 000 by the Lok Sabha secretariat for each member to buy an iPad. With the winter session of Parliament being disrupted for the eighth continuous day now over the FDI issue, questions are being raised about the performance of MPs, and whether there should be a 'No work no pay' policy for them too. Omar even had dashed his microblog saying, the time has come for 'no work, no pay' for MPs if minimum hours of business were not transacted. The comment came when J&K chief minister, who openly had supported the UPA government's decision to introduce foreign equity in single-brand and multi-retail sectors, had criticised the opposition lobby for stalling Parliamentary proceedings on allowing FDI in retail. "No one is forcing FDI in retail down anyone's throat. States not interested have right of first refusal. What could be more fair?" Omar had said. "I see no reason to hold the nation to ransom now," the chief minister had further said apparently taking a dig at opposition parties. |
