Expecting early by-elections, Congress aspirants return to constituencies | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 1: Hoping early bye elections the rival parties have intensified political activities in seven assembly constituencies which were represented by BJP in Assembly and whose MLAs have been expelled from the Party after cross voting in April 13 Legislative Council elections. With BJP totally rejecting reviewing its decision on expulsion of these seven MLAs the Congress aspirants for seats have started touring the constituencies to maintain a liaison with the people there. According to sources Congress leaders Mula Ram and Suman Bhagat who had represented the Raipur Damana and RS Pura reserved constituencies earlier also have started touring these constituencies contacting party activists and voters to have a close rapport with them. Besides these two constituencies the probable candidates for Congress have also started hectic tour of Hiranagar, Basholi, Bani and Reasi Constituencies. However with Speaker Legislative Assembly Mohammed Akbar Lone reserving his decision on the fate of seven expelled members of BJP the chances of early bye elections are ruled out, sources added. Sources said despite the hard efforts by some of the expelled members to seek reentry in the Party the BJP High Command will stick to its decision and there will be no reconsideration of the same. The BJP is of the view that where ever such decision was taken by the Party in the country to maintain discipline by stripping the leaders indulging in indisciplinary activities, the Party emerged more stronger and gained in the elections as masses have supported party action always. BJP national general secretary and national spokesperson of the Party, JP Nadda who along with co-convener of the state Dr JP Jain is on two days tour of Jammu region told Early Times that BJP being a disciplined Party will never tolerate indiscipline. He while justifying the Party action said that masses of the state will fully endorse the same. He also rejected the allegations made by the expelled members that no proper yardsticks were applied by the Party and the seven members were made a scapegoat. Nadda said BJP will bring new faces ahead and the state unit will be rejuvenated fully. The Central leaders will continue to visit Jammu and hold parleys with state leadership from time to time. Terming the expulsion decision was taken taking all pros and cons into consideration, he said that the cross voting episode has given a set back to party image and BJP will not tolerate this any more. Nadda also took a dig at Omar Abdullah government said it is weakest ever Government which the state has seen. This is also most incompetent and inefficient Government which instead of solving the problems of the masses has added to their woes considerably. |
