NSF calls for probe in Lecturers’ appointments in JU Demands CBI enquiry into out of turn promotions | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 2:The National Secular Forum (NSF) has sought explanation from the administration of Jammu University over recent recruitments of lecturers in which deserving candidates having exceptional academics were set aside allegedly by Vice Chancellor, Prof Varun Sahni. Addressing a press conference, NSF president Vikas Sharma said, “University of Jammu has made mockery of the recruitment process owing to which the deserving candidates are being set aside by the interviewing panel. At the expense of deserving people, the least qualified and influential candidates are being adjusted in the University as Lecturers.” But, the Vice Chancellor is busy in conducting the interview for the post of lecturers only for selected cases. It proves that Vice Chancellor is just exploiting the position for personal gains. He has some favourites whom he wants to get adjusted in the University system. His term is nearing completion and just one working day is left but instead of dignified exit he is trying to take maximum advantage of his position. He was required to maintain status quo on the position as model code of conduct for the Vice Chancellor. He need to explain that why he is so concerned for the conduct of interview that too for selective positions. He alleged maximum number of illegal appointments of Contractual lectures/ Clerks and positions in Jammu University influenced by politically leaders. He alleged that politically influenced, not advertised Clerks, IV Class and some others posts and not conduct their interview. Sharma also said that favouritism and nepotism is looming large in the job interviews. He further said many other officials are given out of turn promotions despite they are not fulfilling the criteria clearly showing that there is violations of UGC norms. He said that this clear shows that norms and rules are made for the students and nor for the officials holding high positions. Sharma said that NSF appeals to the Chancellor and Pro Vice Chancellor of the university to hold a special audit in the University. He said NSF demands CBI enquirer into the out of turn promotions given to officials/professor and lecturers appointed in Jammu University.
