Police holds counselling sessions to prevent stone pelting | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 2 (KNS):In an attempt to prevent youths to indulge in stone pelting incidents after they are released police has decided to hold counselling sessions for them. The J&K police have hired services of professional counsellors to motivate the young minds to shun stone pelting. On Friday at least 20 youth who were arrested by the police last week were counseled by Valley’s renowned clinical psychologist, Dr Muzafar Khan and his team at Mahraj Gunj Police Station before they were handed over to their parents. The youth had been detained in Juvenile Home Harwan since their arrest. They were brought to the police station where Dr Muzafar, who works at the J&K Police run Drug De-addiction Center, had a one hour session with them. “We chose topics carefully so that the youth would get ample chance to clarify their anger and reason for indulging in stone pelting and protests. The discussion would not only be useful for the stone pelters, but police would also get to understand psyche of infuriated young minds,” Dr Muzafar told KNS. The youth accepted before the counselors that they regret their decision. “Yes we committed mistake and we can’t sleep properly since we were arrested last week. We want to cry,” the boys told Dr Muzaffar when he posed them with various questions. “Majority of these boys are suffering with attention deficit hyperactive disorder and have self harm tendencies. They have guilt for their behaviour,” Dr Muzafar said.
