No respite from chill in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Dec 2:The weather will remain mainly dry and hazy during the next 24 hours in Kashmir valley with coming nights to remain chillier due to which there will be no respite from shivering cold for the people. However, the maximum will remain above normal, a Met department spokesman said here this afternoon. He said in the absence of any Western Disturbances (WD), there will be no major change in the weather in the region during the next two days. The nights will be unpleasantly cold as the minimum will go further down due to clear weather because of no WD, originating from Arabian sea and entering the region through Afghanistan and Pakistan. He said the minimum in summer capital, Srinagar, will be minus 2 degrees, one degree below normal tomorrow, against minus 1.6 degrees this morning. The sky will be mainly clear with haze during the next 24 hours, he said. World famous health resort of Pahalgam also recorded minus 1.6 degrees minimum. However, Qazigund, on Srinagar-Jammu national highway was coldest in the Valley after the minimum temperature was recorded there at minus 2.6 degrees. People in Ladakh region, which will remain cut off for winter months from the rest of the state due to closure of Zojila pass from yesterday, continued to experience chilly weather. The minimum temperature was recorded minus 7 at Leh and border town of Kargil this morning. However, in the upper reaches, the temperature was recorded between minus 10 degrees to minus 20 degrees.
