Is Omar, Farooq led NC falling apart? | ANC praises Kamal | | Asif Iqbal Naik
JAMMU, Dec 2: After 27 years, National conference leadership led by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Dr. Farooq Abdullah is facing sleepless night in the wake of statements made by senior party leader and his brother Dr. Mustafa Kamal. Ghost of 1984 episode, in which Ghulam Mohammed Shah, the estranged brother-in-law of Dr. Farooq Abdullah dethroned the government of Dr. Farooq Abdullah, is haunting Abdullah family. They are worried that in 1984, duly elected National conference government was toppled through defection by none other than his own family member who was a senior minister in his government. The question has assumed the importance after the meeting of dissident MLA's of ruling National Conference held at the residence of party spokesperson Dr. Mustafa Kamal November 25, 2011. Political analysts are of the opinion that repeat of 1984 political drama at this stage is not an easy affair and any bid to stage a coup against Omar Abdullah means loss to the individuals serving within the party. Moreover the number game is different this time as the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly has fractured mandate and it is very difficult to find out the help of likeminded people to form any government as the local political parties have their own rifts within themselves. But what the possibility is that incase, there is revolt within the party, there is more chance of fresh elections. Analysts also believe that any election at this stage will push the number of NC to wall and PDP is likely to gain. Meanwhile Muzaffar Shah, Senior Vice President Awami National Conference and nephew of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has supported the outrage of Mustafa Kamal against the party President and his son Omar Abdullah. Shah said that his late father was too humiliated by the Abdullah's in 80's like they did with Mustafa Kamal in 2011. He said that nobody has any plan to topple the government of Omar Abdullah in Jammu and Kashmir. "We are no one to topple the government of Omar Abdullah; it is people of the Jammu and Kashmir who will show them the door." Muzaffar Shah said. Shah said that Mustafa Kamal has the right to speak, the way he has been shown door by the father and son, that too by adopting the mischievous means. "The way Mr. Kamal was ousted from the post of the party spokesperson and Additional General secretary is highly condemnable." Shah said. He said that Dr. Farooq Abdullah ignored several senior party leaders while making way for his son Omar Abdullah for the post of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Shah said that Omar government during his 3 years tenure has failed to deliver on public front and said that Corruption, favoritism, nepotism is at rampant and unchecked. Shah said that Omar Abdullah government is run by businessmen while senior party workers and leaders of National Conference are being ignored by both Omar and Farooq. Shah termed Omar Abdullah as politically immature and said that Omar Abdullah is playing with the pride and dignity of the people of state only to remain in power. Shah justified move of his father in 1984 and treated the two year tenure of his father as Chief Minister of State prosperous. |
