The government is taking all possible measures to provide basic facilities to the rural populace, especially hitherto neglected areas, at par with urban people. With a view to give fillip to trade and economics, especially in rural areas, all unconnected villages and hamlets are being linked with main trunk roads. An amount of Rs. 2,80,000/- was distributed among 10 beneficiaries of Indira Awas Yojna scheme. MLA Doda also distributed an amount of Rs. 1,79,000/- among 51 orchardists of the area. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Doda said that solar lighting units are being installed in rural households of Doda constituency under the Government of India Remote Village Electrification (RVE) programme for the poor and needy, who live in far remote villages; This’ll benefit a large number of families, who were, earlier, devoid of all the basic amenities of a modern life. The solar lights will facilitate people living in these villages to enjoy the comfort of modern lights through pollution free technology. MLA Doda impressed upon the officers of agriculture & horticulture departments to reach at the door steps of the remote area farmers in order to create awareness amongst them & popularize high yield varieties of fruit tree plants, food grains, cereals and vegetables for high return and making the state self-sustained in food. He stressed for organizing awareness camps at different places across the remote areas; to educate farmers about government schemes so that benefits of such schemes percolate at the grass-root level.
