6-day V.I.Course at SKPA concludes: | Khoda stresses advanced professional training to enhance efficiency | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, DECEMBER 3: Stressing the crucial importance of training in enhancing professionalism, the Director General of Police, Mr. Kuldeep Khoda today said that an ambitious plan has been chalked out for conducting various advanced training courses for jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Speaking at the valedictory function of Vertical Interaction Course on “Tactical Preparedness for Countering Terrorism’’ organized by Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy in collaboration with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) in the Academy Campus held today, Mr. Khoda said that other measures like modernization in respect of equipment and gadgets as also other aspects of investigations have been receiving high priority. The department is at par with the premier police agencies of the country and we are focussing to make JKP a model police force in the country. Giving the details, the DGP said during six days Interaction Course, several professional experts from various States of the country and from J&K participated and interacted with the officers and delivered lecturers with demos and field visits on various subjects like changing nature of terrorism, delivery of inputs, use of command vehicles, counter terrorism operations and law and order situations. He said that during the interaction, the major themes highlighted by the speakers were continuing threat that India in general and Kashmir in particular faces from the neighbouring establishments and other elements with despite significant decline in violence in J&K. The achievements of JKP in fighting terrorism especially through the Special Operations Groups, by changing strategy demanded by the situations and through initiatives of citizens engagement including the setting up of VDCs and recruitment of SPOs. He said that local police has the primary role in tackling the situations and the up-gradation of all police training institutions in the state is in offing and the training syllabus as per the latest requirements has also been implemented for various courses, he said. The DGP said that the Organization having its Training Institutions across the State and a Police Academy is emphasising upon training in various areas like counter insurgency, crime detection and investigation. The institutions train the police personnel from JKP and other state police officers in sophisticated technology to dovetail into crime network. Besides, several specialized training courses are conducted in other fields including respect towards human rights, cyber crime, crowd controlling by using minimum force and VIP security in the prestigious Sheri-i-Kashmir Police Academy.
