| Bloodless ENT surgery at Amandeep Hospital | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
AMRITSAR, Dec 3:-Amandeep Hospital Amritsar has become the first hospital in the region with facilities for “Bloodless Surgery” for ear, nose and throat diseases.
This was stated by Dr Amandeep Kaur, Medical Director, Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar at a press conference today. Talking forward the thought behind the hospital i.e. treating the suffering humanity by newer and better technologies, Amandeep Hospital has introduced in the region “Coblation” technique for surgery of ear, nose and throat diseases. By this technique, surgery for problems of tonsils and snoring and sleep apnoea is done in a ‘Bloodless’ way with very little pain immediately after surgery.
This technique is being used in Europe and America for various ENT surgeries for quite some time and now Indians can take advantage of this technology.
This was stated by Dr Prahlad Duggal, consultant ENT & Head Neck cancer Surgeon at Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar who is trained in using this technique for various ENT surgeries at Norway. Dr Duggal is using this ‘Coblation’ technique for surgery of tonsils, adenoid and snoring & sleep apnoea with excellent results.
The children with problems of tonsils suffer from recurrent sore throat, fever and loss of appetite with decreased physical growth. Coblation means ‘Controlled Ablation” is a surgical process which offers surgical effectiveness with more patient friendliness than the routine method in which lot of bleeding and pain occurs. Coblation assisted tonsillecctomy also decreases the hospital stay in such patients thereby making it an even more convenient option.
