Employ Chenab valley youth in mega projects: Tarigami to govt | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAMBAN, Dec 3:CPI (M) State Secretary and MLA M Y Tarigami has urged the government to ensure that local youth of Chenab valley districts are employed in the ongoing four-laning, railways and other hydro electric projects in Chenab valley districts, even as he stressed on adequate compensation to the farmers, whose land is acquired for the construction of these projects. Addressing a well attended public meeting at Dharamkund near here, he called upon the government to sort out the issues with the concerned agencies and J&K SPDC in the right earnest to restart execution of the Sawlakote hydro electric project without any further delay. He said the government must take up the execution of Ratle, Pakal Dul, Barsal, Karthai, Kiru, Kawar and other micro hydro electric projects, for which ways and means need to be explored on first priority, adding harnessing hydro electric potential will guaranteed economic welfare of the State and prosperity for its people. The benefits of power generation should first percolate to the people of these areas, he said while expressing concern over un-electrification of many vast areas like Maho Mangat, Sumad etc. He said that Chenab valley districts have least road connectivity; adding even Central schemes like PMGSY have failed to bring any relief to the people of these areas due to apathy of authorities. The entire stretch from Ramsoo to Sarbagi is without any road connectivity, he regretted. Tarigami demanded immediate setting up of hydraulic division in Ramban, saying it was unfortunate that the district is still waiting for this vital office despite repeated assurances by the Chief Minister himself. He said drinking water supply can’t be improved unless full fledged division is set up in the district.
