He was accompanied by the Executive Engineers of R&B, PHE, PDD, BDO Marmat and other officers from Revenue, Horticulture, Agriculture and Science/ Technology departments. Majid Wani inspected the undergoing construction work of bridge at Chamot Nullah near village Goha in Marmat block. MLA Doda said that work at the said bridge, being constructed at an approximate cost of Rs 2 crores under NABARD scheme, should be completed by another six months and once opened for the public; it would benefit a big chunk of population living in more than 15 nearby villages. The government is taking all possible measures to provide basic facilities to the rural populace, especially hitherto neglected areas, at par with urban people. With a view to give fillip to trade and economics, especially in rural areas, all unconnected villages and hamlets are being linked with main trunk roads. Later, in a function organized at village Goha, MLA Doda distributed 83 units of solar lights among poor villagers. An amount of Rs 2,80,000 was distributed among 10 beneficiaries of Indira Awas Yojna scheme. MLA Doda also distributed an amount of Rs 1,79,000 among 51 orchardists of the area. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Doda said that solar lighting units are being installed in rural households of Doda constituency under the Government of India Remote Village Electrification (RVE) programme for the poor and needy, who live in far remote villages; This’ll benefit a large number of families, who were, earlier, devoid of all the basic amenities of a modern life.
