No implementation of ban over the use of polythene bags in Rajouri
12/3/2011 9:13:16 PM
Early Times Report
RAJOURI , December 3 : Keeping in view its environmental hazards and non-degredable nature, the Supreme Court has imposed a blanket ban over the use of polythene bags in J&k state but there is no implementation of this environmental important ban in Rajouri.
Due to lack of checking drives by related authorities of Pollution control board, shopkeepers, traders and locals are using polythene bags without any fear.
It may be noted that Pollution control board team has carried out checking drive in markets of Rajouri city, Gujjar mandi and Jawahar nagar but this all seems to be a too small scale action in implementation of ban. The ill-effects of such an open and large scale use of polythene can be examined by their deposition in water bodies and on unauthorized municipal garbage site near Doodhadari temple.
Through Early Times, locals have demanded the higher authorities of Pollution control board to kindly pay emphasis towards the mass detoriation of environment by the use of polythenes in Rajouri.
