| Cop allegedly commits suicide | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu Dec 3: A constable today allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle here today, police sources said. Meanwhile family alleged he took extreme step when denied of leave by concerned seniors.
Police sources said that Constable Shahid Mehmud Bhat having belt number 550 of IRP 11, a resident of Rajouri, reportedly committed suicide today. Sources said cop deputed with DySP Daljeet Singh as driver at Sainik Colony took extreme step, his body was taken to GMC hospital for postmortem where relatives of the deceased assaulted on them. They alleged the deceased took this step when he allegedly was refused by his senior officer for leave to attend his own marriage secluded in middle December.
Meanwhile, a higher officer of the battalion refuting the allegations said that the leave to the deceased was sanctioned. He added according to some of his colleagues he was under an emotional pressure as his family members had got him engaged against his wishes and this thing has put him in unbearable pressure. Channi Police has registered a case in this connection and is investigating the matter
