| One day student’s conference held at Department of Mathematics | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU , December 3 : The Department of Mathematics , University of Jammu in collaboration with the Jammu Mathematical Society organized the 20th one day Students conference in the University of Jammu.
In this conference students from different colleges and Universities of this region participated and presented their talks which are evaluated by a panel of experts so as to decide 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in order of merit for both under - graduate and Post - graduate categories.
The One Day Students Conference is one of the many activities of the Jammu Mathematical Society organized annually to create awareness amongst students regarding applications of Mathematics for the welfare of the society and for prosperity of the state.
The conference was presided over by Professor D S Jamwal, Head of Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu and President Jammu University Mathematical Society while Professor S D Sharma, Dean, Faculty of Mathematical Sciences was the Chief Guest. Professor Sharma in his address explained to young participants the power and importance of Mathematics by citing examples from Sciences , life sciences, engineering and other fields.
Forty students from different colleges and Universities of this region presented their talks.
The JMS report was presented by Dr. K.S. Charak Secretary of JMS while Prof. Bhopinder Singh. Principal GCET and vice - President JMS presented a vote of thanks. Dr. Shakeel Ahmed Raina. Joint Secretary JMS, Dr Sunil Gupta Treasurer JMS. Dr. Romesh Kumar. Dr. Abdul Khaliq, Dr. Shallu Sharma, Dr. Tirth Ram and Dr. Raj Shree Dhar were also present on the occasion.
