JKP drubs Idea XI to enter semis of Champions Trophy | | | early times report JAMMU, Dec 3: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) XI defeated Idea XI by 29 runs and qualified for the semifinals of the Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organised by Simula Sports Club at MA Stadium, here. Winning the toss and batting first, JKP XI scored 139 for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. AK Sharma top scored with 39 runs including five boundaries, while Shashi Kumar contributed 37 runs with the help of five boundaries. Rajesh Gill and Amit Koul chipped in with 12 runs each, while Jitender Raina made ten runs. For Idea XI, Nipun Verma was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped a five wicket haul by giving away 22 runs in his four overs, while Hartaj, Deepak and Sahil claimed one wicket apiece. Chasing the target, Idea XI lost wickets at regular intervals and managed to score only 110 runs in the allotted overs by losing nine wickets, thus lost the match by 29 runs. Deepak Wali played a brilliant knock of 42 runs in just 40 balls with the help of five crispy boundaries. Hartaj (15), Nitin Verma (13) and Deepak Sadhotra (9) were the other contributors. Left-arm spinner Shamsher was the pick of the bowlers, who took 3/23 in his four overs, while RK Bhat, Rajesh Gill, Shashi Kumar and Showket claimed one wicket apiece. Shashi was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance. The match was officiated by Sohail and Vijay as umpires, while Yogesh and Rakesh Kumar maintained the scorebook.
