Muzaffar Shah slams 'Omar Govt' over scrapping UID contract | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Dec 3: Reacting to the news item published in "Early Times" on 29th of November 2011, Senior Vice President Awami National Conference (ANC) Muzaffar Shah slams Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on scrapping Unique Identification Card contract with WIPRO Technologies, Gurgaon and Srinagar's based Comptech Technology. Targeting his cousin and chief minister Omar, Senior President ANC, today said that the aim and objectives of introducing UID is to check the actual population as well as follow of bogus voters during elections. He said that National Conference Govt led by Abdullah family from time to time always plays its part in election bungling. "In fact NC always betrayed the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and wins the elections by adopting wrong tactics like bungling in votes." Shah said. Shah said that 1987 elections was an eye opener that who the winning candidates were declared as loser. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are still paying prize for the misdeeds committed by Farooq Abdullah in 1987. He said that after announcement of UID enrolments by the UPA government makes the people of state feels sense of security about the future elections in the state. Shah said that ANC will fight for 100% implementation of UID enrolment in the state so that bogus votes in elections could be checked. Mr. Shah said that UID enrolment will also help to check the flow of non residents of the state that will help the state people to maintain its identity. Further ridiculing Omar over the issue of revocation of AFSPA, Shah accused Omar off succumbing to the pressure from army and UPA government. "People wants the AFSPA to go as the general public has rage against it, but it looks like that the match is fix over the issue between the Congress and NC," Shah said. Shah said that Omar Abdullah has no guts to revoke the AFSPA. "He had a power to amend DDA, but he (Omar) has no guts to do that," Shah said. He said that the post of Chief Minister is the post of pride, but accuses Omar Abdullah of surrendering it before the army. "Omar instead of inviting Army Chief at his office preferred to visit him, which is against the protocol of Chief Minister Post." ANC leaders said. Shah added that political matters should be left to the political parties for their redresser. Commenting on alleged rampant corruption, Senior ANC leader said, "Corruption is going on at rampant in state and death of NC worker Hajji Yousaf is an example of it." He termed the Omar Abdullah led coalition government as most corrupt. He said that his party demanded for an independent probe into the death of Hajji Mohammad Yousaf and said that inquiry by Justice Bedi is not a futile exercise, since the commission is only probing the circumstance about the cause of the death of deceased Hajji Yousaf. "Justice Bedi will probe only the circumstance leading to the death of Hajji Yousaf, but what about the corruption allegations; who will investigate those," Shah questioned and demanded any impartial probe into the death of Hajji Yousaf through an independent agency like CBI. Shah said that it was during the tenure of his father as Chief Minister that any person from Jammu region becomes the Deputy Chief Minister of the state. "It was late G M Shah who for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir gives representation to the people of Jammu region and appointed Devi Das Thakur as Deputy CM and Madan Mohan Khajuria as DGP of the state," Shah said. He said that his party will fight for strengthening of RTI Act in Jammu and Kashmir so that the government will be made accountable for public money. Shah said that his party has already issued the white paper in press as far as their assists is concerned and demanded that all the MLA's MLC's Ministers and Chief Minister should follow the path. |
