Rotational Chief Ministership issue

JAMMU, Dec 3: Though perturbed over the governance deficit in Jammu and Kashmir, UPA Chairperson and Congress President Sonia Gandhi is still indecisive about the fate of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's continuation for the next three years.
NC-led coalition government is completing three years on January 5, 2012. Barring PHE minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) has made known its intentions to one and all in New Delhi. They have taken the message to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and informed her about urgent need to review relationship with National Conference (NC).
They have apprised UPA chairperson about the desire of Congress workers to have their own Chief Minister and also explained her in detail about the disastrous impact which continuation with National Conference (NC) Chief Minister would have on Congress across the state. She has been told about the recent controversies and their detrimental impact in the image of coalition government.
Sources in New Delhi, especially those close to UPA Chairperson informed Early Times that decision on rotational Chief Ministership issue is yet to be finalized. "Though Sonia Ji has told the party flock in Jammu and Kashmir to respect the coalition dharma and help Omar Abdullah in smooth running of the government. She has asked them not to speak too much about rotational Chief Minister issue," said the close aide of Sonia Gandhi.
He maintained that while the final word is yet to be spoken on the issue, Madam has asked Congress leaders not to speak out of turn and allow JKPCC President Prof. Saif-ud-din Soz to make political statements, wherever and whenever required. "It does not look sensible if we disrespect our coalition partner. We have to maintain cordial relationships since Jammu and Kashmir is not Uttrakhand or Goa where we can effort frequent change of guard. It is a frontline state," added the aide.
He disclosed that NC president was reprimanded when his brother went out of control. "We told him to correct his brother who was making statements off and on. Mr. Kamal spoke so much that he reached to a point where he even took a dig at our General Secretary Rahul Gandhi. It was intolerable. We told Mr. Farooq," maintained the aide. He clarified that action was taken against Kamal after we resented the words used by Mustafa Kamal against Rahul Gandhi.
Coming back to the issue of rotational Chief Ministership, the aide said "Madam has not outrightly rejected the demand but asked the state Congress to look at the national scene especially the upcoming elections in various states across the country. They have been told that Omar Abdullah would be part of the Congress campaigning team since he represents the empowered Muslim community of India."
The aide did not mince words in saying that things in Jammu and Kashmir would not remain same. "We would not disappoint out party workers who have been demanding their own Chief Minister. But we would also not like to do anything which would destabilize a frontline state like Jammu and Kashmir. A beautiful balance has to be maintained for all times to come," asserted the close aide of CM.
Regarding the AFSPA revocation row, the senior congress leader said "Union Home Minister has put this in the ear of Omar that AFSPA would be revoked from some districts. Defence minister has been staunchly opposing this move. But since Omar relies heavily on HM, he is sure of getting the same revoked. Whether or not this happens is a million dollar question which only time would answer."
