| Tarigami condemns use of force on disabled persons | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Dec 4 (KNS): CPI-M State Secretary and MLA Kulgam, M Y Tarigami Sunday condemned baton charge and arrest of the disabled persons on the occasion of World Disabled Day.
They were protesting against the indifference of the government towards the specially challenged persons in the State Disability Day. While terming the police action as unfortunate and uncalled for Tarigami said that instead of settling issues, matters are sought to be settled with coercion, which amounts to the violation of basic human rights.
He urged upon the government to stop use of such ‘authoritarian’ methods against peaceful demonstrations and demanded immediate redressal of the genuine demands put forth by the association which includes reservation in government jobs, implementation of SRO-220 of 1998, opening of rehabilitation centre and organizing of artificial limbs.
