Focus on to make J& K Police a model force: DGP | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 3 : Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda today said focus was being laid on making state police a model force in the country. "Measures like modernisation in terms of equipment and gadgets as also other aspects of investigations have been receiving high priority," Mr Khoda added.
"The department is at par with the premier police agencies of the country and we are focusing to make Jammu and Kashmir Police a model police force in the country," Mr Khoda added.
He was addressing at the valedictory function of Vertical Interaction Course on 'Tactical Preparedness for Countering Terrorism' organised by Sher-e-Kashmir Police Academy in collaboration with Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR and D) at Udhampur.
The DGP, while stressing the crucial importance of training in enhancing professionalism, said an ambitious plan has been chalked out for conducting various advanced training courses for jawans and officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
"During six days interaction course, several professional experts from various States of the country and from the state participated and interacted with the officers and delivered lecturers with demos and field visits on various subjects like changing nature of terrorism, delivery of inputs, use of command vehicles, counter terrorism operations and law and order situations," he said.
Mr Khoda added that during interaction, major themes like continuing threat that India in general and Kashmir in particular facing from the neighbouring establishments and other elements with despite significant decline in violence in J and K were discussed and highlighted.
"The achievements of state police in fighting with terrorism especially through the Special Operations Groups (SOGs), by changing strategy demanded by the situations and through initiatives of citizens engagement including the setting up of Village Defence Committee (VDCs) and recruitment of Special Police officers (SPOs)," He said.
"The training imparted to the jawans and officers in using non-lethal equipments would help them in controlling the situations without causing any damage to the human lives. The trainees should also adopt protective behaviour while dealing the situations in the field and the public should consider the men in khaki their friends," he advised.
