Rotary Club distributes sweaters among school children in Darhal

Darhal, Dec 4: On the onset of winters Rotary Club of Darhal Malikan distributed free sweaters to school children in Darhal.
More than 100 sweaters were distributed among poor and needy children of three remotest government schools of zone Darhal by Rotarians on Saturday.
About 80 sweaters, 40 each, were given away to Children in Govt. Middle School Budh Khanari, and Govt. Middle School Hatrian, whereas more than 20 sweaters distributed among primary wing of Govt. Middle School Sarotha.
Principal of Govt Girls Higher Secondary School, Darhal, Safeer Malik who is currently serving as Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) of Zone, after travelling long distance, distributed these sweaters in front of community members, Rotarians, NGO personnel, and respective head masters and staff of schools.
In a brief function at Govt. Middle School Budh Khanari, Safeer Malik thanked Rotary International in general and Rotary Club Darhal Malikan in particular for socio-educational upliftment of area.
He emphasised on the fact that education is the key to poverty alleviation and sustainable development, and there lies a great responsibility on school teachers to lay a stronger foundation of nation building.
Restoring the public trust on govt schools by hard work and dedication, and make their pupils ambassadors of peace and development in the contemporary world is the real task ahead for teachers, he added.
Earlier, Rtn. M. Ashaq Raza, president of club, introduced the audience about for noble works of Rotary International for the well-being of humankind worldwide. He thanked Zonal Education Officer and community members for accepting this small token of help from the Club as well as fellow Rotarians who made this generous donation.
He told that club has distributed sweaters in 4 schools last year and expressed to help the other educational institutions in some other way in near future - while keeping the spirit of Rotary “Service above Self” alive.
