EARLY TIMES REPORT
Doda, 4th December, 2011: Abdul Majid Wani MLA Doda, today, conducted tour of Mohalla Gundna. He was accompanied by DFO Social Forestry, BDO Gundna, BMO Ghat, ZEO Gundna and sectoral officers of PHE, PDD and Social Welfare Department.
The work of under construction PMGSY road from Doda to Mohalla Gundna was inspected. MLA Doda expressed dismay over the slow pace of work in 23 km patch of the road from Jodhpur to Mohalla. MLA Doda also conducted public meetings at Jodhpur, Jatheli and Mohalla, where grievances of public were listened carefully. Directions were issued to the PHE officers to immediately all water supply pipes damaged due to construction work at the Doda Mohalla road.
MLA Doda expressed his dissatisfaction over poor supply of electricity in the area. Reportedly, the area gets electricity supply between 3-4 hours daily which has ruined the lives of poor inhabitants.
There were reports of shortage of teaching staff in most of the schools in Gundna block; people also demanded opening of new PHCs and sub centres/ dispensaries especially in far flung areas of the Gundna block.
Majid Wani took serious note of absence of district/ sectoral officers of Revenue, Agriculture, Horticulture, Horticulture Planning & Marketing, R&B, Handicraft, Science & Technology, Cooperatives, Tourism, Animal & Sheep Husbandry, Industries & Commerce, departments.
Few officers often pose like they have some directions not to accompany the local MLAs in public meetings and try to create confusion among coalition partners.
MLA Doda has asked the government as well as the concerned ministers to take serious action against these officers as these officers deliberately try to create confusion in the government working.
MLAs are representatives of public as well as the important government functionaries. All the administrative departments should be directed to ask their district/ sectoral officers to accompany MLAs during their extensive tours of constituency, only then grievances of the people living in far flung areas can be redressed.
