JAMMU, Dec 4: Resentment is brewing among Congress leaders and workers across Jammu and Kashmir over New Delhi's delay in resolving the issue of rotational Chief Ministership.
According to Congress sources, change in the stance of UPA Chairperson came after several party leaders called on her in recent past and expressed resentment over the ill treatment meted out with Congress party leaders and workers by the hands of National Conference leadership including their minister.
Congress-NC in Jammu and Kashmir hits low in recent past and the leaders from both the sides traded guns on each other over various issues like AFSPA, DDA and amendment in RPC and same can be witnessed from that fact that both the parties failed to reach on any consensus over various issues in recent past. The latest development came in the back drop of meeting between Congress President Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz and Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday (November 30) at her New Delhi residence.
The meeting between Soz and Sonia was held almost three weeks later when on November 14 Omar Abdullah held a series of meeting with Congress leadership at Delhi including P Chidambaram, Pranab Mukherjee and Sonia Gandhi over the series of issue including AFSPA and strengthening of bonds between the coalition partners. According to Congress sources, state Congress leadership has clearly told the party leadership that they are unhappy over working style of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Sources said that during his meeting with Gandhi in New Delhi, Soz informed the party leader over deliberate attempts of NC leadership to avoid scheduled coordination committee meeting between the two parties as was decided at the time Omar Abdullah took over the reign of state. Sources said that Congress party leadership in Delhi have great respect and honor for the feeling of its party workers.
"UPA Chairperson Ms Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have full honor and respect for the sentiments of his party workers who works with dedication from last so many years to strengthen the Congress party at gross root level in Jammu and Kashmir," sources said. Sources said that it was due to concern raised by the party workers; UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi has decided to convey the meet of party workers including elected representatives from Jammu and Kashmir.
"We are looking forward for organizing a meeting between Sonia Gandhi and Congress leaders from Jammu and Kashmir any time after the ongoing parliament session ends on December 22," sources said. The sources said that the exert date of the meeting between Gandhi and Congress party worker hasn't been finalized yet, but said that they were looking for possible date only in the month of December itself.
