Omar inaugurates development projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 5 : Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today inaugurated five development projects and laid foundation of as many works in the state on the occasion of the birth anniversary of National Conference founder Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah. Omar inaugurated district Employment Counselling Centres at Ganderbal and Samba, a Power Grid Station at Lissar, Tourist Gateway at Qazigund and a Power Grid Station at Ramban, an official spokesman said. He said the Chief Minister laid the foundation of Degree College at Pampore, Physical Education College at Ganderbal, Data Centre at Bemina, Polytechnic College at Samba and Data Centre at Jammu. The 50 MVA, 132/33 KV Grid Station costing Rs 17.52 crore, at Lissar-Sagam in south Kashmir would improve power supply particularly in the areas of Dooru, Hillar, Kokernag and adjoining areas while the Grid Station at Ramban has been completed at a cost of Rs 42 crore, the spokesman said. The 220/132 KVA Ramban Grid Station will benefit the districts of Ramban, Doda and Kishtwar in Jammu region, the spokesman said, adding it would also give boost to developmental activities and help fast tracking of railway project between Kashmir and Jammu regions. The Grid Station will also pave the way for construction of two more grid stations at Bhallesa and Kishtwar, he said. He said the Employment Council Centres at Ganderbal in the Valley and Samba in Jammu have been completed at a cost of about Rs two crore.
