Attempts being made to split NC: Dr Farooq
Says dark clouds on ‘Omar govt’ over

Srinagar, Dec 5: Nation Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah Monday alleged that attempts were being made by some elements to split his party. He however added the trust of people in party leadership would help in defeating such attempts.
Speaking on the sidelines of the memorial occasion of 106th birth anniversary of NC founder, Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah at Hazratbal, here, Union Minister Farooq said, “The differences within the party will not divide the NC as it is a cohesive unit. Since the period Sheikh sahib, conspiracies to divide the party have been hatched against the NC. But trust and public support defeated all such attempts.”
Without naming his brother and recently ousted additional general secretary of the party, Dr Mustafa Kamal, he said, “The party leaders must narrow down their differences to defeat the nefarious designs of those who want to divide the NC.”
The firebrand NC president also came out against the media’s role. “People must not rely on negative propaganda of media against the NC leadership. Don’t rely on them as they publish baseless stories,” he alleged.
Dr Abdullah said that dark clouds on the government of his son Omar Abdullah were over and the sun had finally come out. “People must maintain patience and their problems would be resolved in the remaining three years of Omar led government,” he claimed.
The NC president also said that this year’s tourism season and better agriculture production would help in delivering system of the government.
Senior NC leader and Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, said when different ideas and formulas were being debated for the resolution of the Kashmir issue. “But the idea put forth by Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah for its resolution should be discussed and party has also projected autonomy for its resolution,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, senior NC leader and Minister for Forests and Environment, Mian Altaf Ahmad said his party was committed to work for the resolution of Kashmir issue.
Earlier, Omar, Dr Abdullah, and senior NC leaders paid floral tributes to late Sheikh Abdullah.
