NC-Cong still on path of confrontation Coalition was a compulsion for Party: Dar
12/5/2011 10:19:02 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 5: The National Conference (NC) and Congress coalition in the state are on a path of confrontation and all is not going well among alliance partners. This was reflected during a function organized by NC provincial wing on the birth anniversary of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah to pay tributes to founder of NC today.
The internal bickering between the coalition partners came to fore when Minister of State for R&B and Health Javed Ahmed Dar who is a close confident of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said that NC entered into coalition due to certain compulsions. Dar said the main reason to share the coalition with Congress was to protect the people’s interests in the state.
Dar speech gave a reflection that NC was not happy in coalition and he asked the people to strengthen the party so that it can come to power on its own in the Assembly elections of 2015. ``We joined the coalition for your interests otherwise the NC patriarch Dr Farooq Abdullah was fully aware of problems in coalition as he has a bitter experience of working with Congress in 1987’’ he added.
The Minister said that it was because of the problems suffered by NC cadre and leadership during the previous coalition Government in 2002 that the leadership decided to join the coalition in 2008. He urged the people to strengthen the party so that NC will frame the next Government in the state on its own.
Dar asked the Partymen from Jammu that you take care of Jammu province and ``we will take the care of Kashmir Valley to sweep the next elections in the state’’.
Dar wanted to give the indication that NC in coalition was not in a position to serve the masses in a better way as it wanted. He said the NC is most cadre based party in entire India.
Same was the opinion of NC provincial president Laxmi Dutta. She two asked people to strengthen the NC so that the Party forms the next government without any support from any party. Describing Congress as crutches on whose support Omar Government is dependent she said``people should strengthen the hands of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah so that he does not need the support of crutches in future.
``I am sure the Omar Abdullah will get the majrority in next Assembly poll due to his performance as Chief Minister’’ she said, adding Mr Abdullah has taken many pro-people decisions and people of the state will surely bring him to power on its own.
