Jammu schools served notices for not observing Muharram holiday | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Dec 6:Three private schools were today served showcause notices by the Jammu Chief Education Officer for not observing gazetted holiday on the occasion of Muharram.
"A surprise visit was conducted on the directions of the Directorate of School Education, Jammu, to check the ground reality regarding functioning of private schools during vacation and it was found that some of them were violating the norms," Natha Ram, CEO, Jammu, told .
Mr Ram said surprise checking was conducted in 12 schools out of which three were found functioning following which show cause notices were served to them on the spot.
"The private schools namely New Era Environment School, Circular Road, KC International Public School, Akhnoor Road and KC Gurukul Public School, Akhnoor Road violated the norms and were served the notices," the CEO said.
He added, "The school management was asked to close down the school on the spot while their cases have been recommended to the higher authorities for de-recognition and withhold of their affiliation." The CEO maintained that the school management can be fined if they failed to reply satisfactorily to the show cause notices served to them.
