Raising Day of Home Guards, Civil Defence organisations observed | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6:Home Guards/Civil Defence organization observed its Raising Day alongwith other states of the country at Auxiliary Police 2nd Bn, Gandhi Nagar here today. An impressive Parade by the contingent of Auxiliary Police, Home Guards and Civil Defence, SDRF/ School Children and thereafter demonstrations on air raid, earth quake and rescue operations were also presented by Civil Defence Team. New rescue equipments to be used during any eventuality were also exhibited during the occasion. Six newly purchased rescue vehicles fitted with modern and sophisticated equipments for 6 multi-hazardous districts of Jammu, Doda, Rajouri, Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla to meet any eventuality/ disaster were also flagged off by the Chief Guest. Dr Ram Lubhaya, Addl DGP HG/CD & Aux. Police J&K after his welcome address read out the Raising Day message of Governor, Chief Minister, MoS Home, Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Home. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda, said that 6th December reminds us of the Chinese Aggression of 1962, which lead to the raising of HG/CD in our country. This voluntary force was created to deal with the internal security and security of vital installations of the country. He further said that now with the emerging trends which are surfacing day by day like climatic change, melting of glacier, storms, cloud. bursts resulting into flash floods, major road accidents, floods, earthquakes it has posed new challenges before us which have to be taken note of so that losses on this count like drought, human and property are minimized.
