NC leaders helped anti-Kashmiri Pandit lobby to force exodus of community: Bhim
12/6/2011 10:45:28 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 6: While addressing Panthers Party activists, Bhim Singh reminded those who were celebrating his birthday acclaiming to follow Sheikh Abdullah’s paved roads to strengthen national integration that it was Sheikh in 1947 who stood with a stick in hand to stop migrating Kashmiri Pundits at Qazigund saying that, "I shall allow Kashmir Pundits to leave the Valley only on my dead body".
In 1990, they were National Conference leaders who helped the anti-KP elements to provoke exit of KPs. This was first assault on Sheikh Abdullah’s Kashmiriat.

Secondly, Sheikh Mohd Abdullah in 1947 welcomed the Indian Army and joined entire Kashmir to sing ‘Jan Gan Man’ at Lal Chowk hailing Maharaja Hari Singh’s decision to accede to the Union of India. It was his grandson who challenged his grandfather by declaring on the floor of the Legislative Assembly that integration with India was incomplete.
Thirdly, Sheikh Abdullah never supported violence or armed struggle to achieve political aims. He spent nearly 22 years in jails but never criticized Accession with the Union of India nor supported violence or guns. His son Farooq Abdullah in 1988 (when in power with the support of Congress) aided and abetted the innocent Kashmiri youth to cross over to Pakistan for armed training. Mrs. Indira Gandhi herself admitted that he was one among the creators of JKLF. In 1990, he and his National Conference sided with the elements inciting violence and secession.
Fourthly, Sheikh Abdullah closed the chapter on Centre-State relations and on the so-called autonomy by signing Indira-Sheikh Accord (the Accord was signed by Mirza Afzal Beg, representing Sheikh and G. Parathasarthy representing the Prime Minister) in 1975. Sheikh Abdullah has accepted the agreement and took over the reign of power in J&K as Chief Minister by burying the deadwood of the so-called 1952 Agreement (which in fact was never signed).
On the other hand his son after losing his credibility and public trust has revived the autonomy slogan with his son’s cooperation. Repeating 1952 Agreement is another insult to Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah, reversal of Sheikh’s legacy.
The NPP Chief called on NC workers to go through Sheikh Abdullah’s contribution and commitment towards the people and State-Centre relations and compare it with the damage that his son and grandson have done by exploiting the innocent people of J&K
