JAMMU, Dec 6 : An impressive ‘Zuljinah’ procession was taken out on the occasion of Muharram here today in which thousands of Shia mourners including a sizeable number of women and children participated.
The procession started from Pirmitha complex and after passing through Lakhdatta Bazar, Kanak Mandi, Residency Road, Shaheedi Chowk etc. it culminated at Karbalah complex in Talab Khatikan.
The mourners mostly attired in black dress wailing and beating their chests and reciting Marsias in praise of Imam-e-Hussain who laid down his life in the battle field of Karbalah to uphold the truth.
The mourners were also raising anti imperialist forces slogans expressing their sympathies with the people of Iraq, Afghanistan and Lebanon fighting the US tyranny. They warned the US to stop interference in the internal affairs of these countries.
Earlier hundreds of Shia mourners assembled at Peer Mitha complex where from the procession started. As it proceeded to Lakhadata Bazar the crowd of mourners swelled into thousands.
