Mahaparinirvan Diwas of Ambedkar observed | Various organisations pay tributes | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6:A cross section of society today paid homage to Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 56th Mahaparinirvan Diwas. Several programmes were organised across the state to pay tributes to Dr Ambedkar. The Jammu University SC/ST Employees Association today offered respect to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar, the father of Indian Constitution, in a programme organised at the varsity. Association members described Dr BR Ambedkar as a great national leader of twentieth century, an intellectual scholar and a statesman who contributed greatly in the nation building and left an indelible imprint through his immense contribution in framing the constitution of free India. Association President RL Kaith said that Ambedkar’s understanding of human nature had convinced him that those in possession of power seldom abdicate in favour of those who are out of it. He therefore insisted that the best guarantee for the settlement of the social problem was the adjustment of political machine itself and not the will of those who are continuing to be left in unfettered control of the machine. Others who paid respect to Babasaheb included Messrs Surinder Kumar Shavotra, Choudhary Shah Alam, Om Parkash, Paras Ram, Bodh Raj Angral, Sukhdev, Ramesh Lal, Kunj Lal, Mohan Lal, Bodh Raj, Vijay Kumar, Des Raj Shavotra, Kartar Chand, Des Raj Lalotra, Janak Raj, Mohd Sadiq, Manoj Kumar and Balak Ram. In another function organized at the head office of the Women Empowerment Forum to commemorate the death anniversary of B R Ambedkar, the members paid rich tributes to Ambedkar. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Anuradha Goswami described B R Ambedkar as one of the towering personalities of modern India. She said that B R Ambedkar is remembered for his essential role in formulating the constitution of India. Others who spoke on the occasion included Promilla, Manju Dogra, Renu Sharma, Rekha and others. A floral tribute was paid to Baba Saheb Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar on his 55th Maha Pari Nirvan Diwas at Baba Sahib Ambedkar Chowk under the aegis of All J&K Guru Ravi Dass Sabha. A large number of people from all walks of life paid floral tributes to Ambedkar under the presidentship of Piran Ditta. All J&K Dalit Maha Sabha, Jammu along with executive members of the Sabha paid rich tributes to Bharat Rattan Dr BR Ambedkar on 55th death anniversary at Ambedkar Chowk, Jammu. The statue of Baba Sahib was garlanded and his role for the upliftment of the scheduled castes, back ward classes and oppressed people of India was highlighted. While speaking on this occasion chairman Vijay Lochan stressed the need of unity among the dalits and oppressed classes of India. He further said that nation cannot forget his commendable work done for the nation and his message of equality fraternity and brotherhood. Meanwhile, in Kathua Nirman Diwas was celebrated on the occasion of 55th death anniversary of the father of Indian Constitution Dr BR Ambedkar by organizing a programme at Kalibari by the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) unit Kathua. On the occasion the State General Secretary of the BSP S.R. Manjotra was the chief guest and Babu Ram was the guest of honour. While addressing the gathering, they threw light on the life of Dr. B.R Ambedkar. BSP leaders said that Ambedkar throughout his life strived hard for the cause of poor and down trodden masses of the India.
