MIER College observes World Disability Day | Holds Orientation Programme for teachers | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 6:To mark the World Disability Day, the Department of B Ed Special Education of MIER College organized an Orientation Programme for school teachers of Model Academy BC Road and Residency Road as well as the students of B Ed Special Education. 70 teachers and students participated in this orientation programme. Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER was the Chief Guest on the occasion and Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER was the Guest of Honour. The Resource persons were the lecturers of Special Education Department. Rajendra Kumar Praveen, HoD, B Ed Special Education – (MR) course acquainted the participants about the Concept of Resource Room and the concept of Dyslexia and their strategies. He elaborated upon the teaching strategies for reducing the problems in writing. Rohinka Sharma delivered a lecture on Intellectual Disability. She explained about the ways to identify an intellectually impaired child, the various types of impairment, the causes and management programmes. Vinod Kalra delivered a lecture on Inclusive education, its concept, benefits and problems faced in inclusive education. He also discussed about the Right to Education Act. In her presidential address, Dr Renu Gupta said that we should come forward to accept and help the disabled in all the aspects of life. She said that we should try to remove the myths related to disability and have a more positive attitude towards the disabled. Dr Adit Gupta also interacted with the participants and appreciated the efforts of the Special Education wing for creating awareness among the masses.
