Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 6: In yet another development indicating that state unit of BJP is in complete disarray and a directionless body, the party deviating from its past practice and the tradition, did not bother to organize any function to observe Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar's anniversary or pay tributes to the great leader who was remembered today across the nation by political parties, social organizations and a number of other dignitaries at the national level and in states. Neither any function was observed in the party headquarters nor his statue was garlanded at the Ambedkar Chowk, which used to be annual practice on this day enthusiastically participated by the members of its SC cell -BJP Anusuchit Jati Morcha.
The functionaries of the state unit which has been in a state of waywardness and disorder for some time due to the controversies that enveloped on or other front, who normally remain alert and alive for such occasions , it appears forgot to pay tributes even through statements or the press releases. Sources said there is a scene of confusion within the party post disqualification of MLAs particularly and a sense of uncertainty grips at all levels of the hierarchy in the state unit. There is no coordination between the sister bodies within the party which is why the SC cell also chose to ignore or simply forgot to pay tributes to the great leader of the nation, sources added.
Sources also said that the development has not been taken well by the cadres particularly those associated with organizing such functions with great fervor in the past. While various other political parties held programmes in the party offices and paid tributes as a mark of respect to Dr Ambedkar on his 06th anniversary , there not a whimper in the party headquarters of BJP today, sources said. The lapse on part of the leadership has not augured well at a time when a grouse is already been nourished by cadres and supporters of three constituencies , all reserved category won by BJP in 2008 assembly elections, that out of six MLAs facing disqualification action, three belong to these segments.
Sources said a message has already gone down the voters that party does not care or have any concern for them nor the representatives whom they sent to Assembly during last elections. It is this feeling which has affected the image of the party in other segments as well, sources said adding that instead of starting any damage control exercise that could have helped in retaining the electoral vote bank in these segments, the party by not organizing even a symbolic programme today has further dmaged the things that can erode its position in such areas where it has strong political hold.
