Sohail slams ton as Ishar XI enters semis of Champions Trophy | | | Early times report
JAMMU, Dec 6: Sohail scored a swashbuckling century to help Ishar XI thrash Strikers Cricket Club by a huge margin of 101 runs to enter semifinals of the ongoing 5th Champions Trophy T20 Cricket Tournament, being organi-sed by Simula Sports Club at MA Stadium, here. Earlier, after winning the toss and batting first, Ishar XI scored a mammoth total of 194 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Sohail smashed 56-ball unbeaten century (100*) with the help of 13 delectable boundaries and one huge six. Atul Sharma also contributed quick-fire 37 runs including 8 boundaries, while Mudassir chipped in with 17 off 16 balls. Abdul Islam and Raju claimed 2 wickets each for Strikers Club. In reply, Youngster Pavit Singh (3/15) and Prince (3/17) plotted collapse of the Strikers Club and the whole side bundled-out for paltry 93 runs in 14.3 overs, thus lost the match by a huge margin of 101 runs. Sahil (25), Rohit (17) and Raju (9) were the main contributors. For Ishar XI, Pavit Singh and Prince took 3 wickets each, while Mudassir claimed two. Sohail of Ishar XI was adjudged man of the match for his superb ton. Ishar XI will face Simula XI now in the semifinals on the date to be decided later-on. The match was officiated by Vijay Kumar and Sohail as umpires, while Yogesh Sharma maintained the scorebook. |
