World Philosophy Day celebrated | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, dec 7: Govt. College for Women Parade Ground Jammu celebrated World Philosophy Day – today. Rita Jitandra, former Principal of the college and noted social activist was the Chief Guest on the Occasion. Ved Kumari Ghai, Savitri Sharma and Varun K. Tripathi were the guests of honour of the Function. R.K Deswal chairman, Department of Philosophy Kurukshetra University was the resource person on the occasion who delivered a special lecture on the theme " basic values embodied in Indian Culture and their relevance to National Reconstruction " Earlier, College Principal Kiran Bakshi welcomed the guests in the inaugural section of the function. Speaking on the occasion Principal highlighted the importance of celebration of World Philosophy Day. P.P Singh HOD Philosophy and organizing secretary presented keynote address on the celebration of the Day and other activities to be carried out during the function. In the second session, an Inter college and Inter Disciplinary Symposium on the topic " Revival of Ancient Values- Exigency of the Hour" was conducted in which 15 student speakers from different Colleges of the state participated. Sahil Mehta from M.A.M College, Radhika Mahajan from G.C.W Parade and Sanchit Verma from M.A.M College won first, second and third prize respectively in the symposium. Nalin Gupta from Trikuta Degree College and Rachitya from G.C.W Parade were given consolation prizes. The programme was compered by Akriti of B.Com Part-IIIrd M.S Pathania, Co-ordinator IQAC presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
