Dy CM reviews progress of sewerage projects | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT ‘Directs NBCC to redouble their efforts for early completion’ JAMMU, DECEMBER 07- Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Tara Chand directed NBCC to redouble their efforts, work in double shift and increase their manpower to complete the ambitious sewerage project both in Jammu and Srinagar city at the earliest. Deputy Chief Minister convened a high level meeting of officers from JDA, JMC, PHE, PDD, NBCC and UEED to review the progress and pace of sewerage projects executed by NBCC in different parts of Jammu city, here today. Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Home, Tourism and Revenue and Relief Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani was present during the meeting. Among others, the meeting was attended by Principal Secretary H&UDD Mr. Suresh Kumar, Additional Secretary, H&UDD Mr. Saugat Biswas, Commissioner, JMC Mr. S.C. Sawhney, and other senior engineers and officers of line departments were present during the meeting. Threadbare discussions were held on various issues to remove bottlenecks and improve progress of the works. He exhorted upon the officers to work with utmost zeal and dedication for early completion of these vital projects. He stressed for coordination among various agencies and departments involved in the project so that the same gets completed in a time bound manner. Describing the quality of material as basic factor for the construction work of any project, the Deputy Chief Minister directed the officers for ensuring use of quality material in the construction work. Any laxity in this regard would not be tolerated, he added. He directed the PHE department to ensure full cooperation with the NBCC and depute their engineers at various construction sites of sewerage works to avoid any damage to PHE water pipes during digging work. He cautioned the executing authorities that no delay would be tolerated and called for maintaining a proper calendar for all the undertaken works. Addressing the meeting, Mr. Nasir Aslam Wani called for speeding up pace of the Sewerage projects so that the same can be commissioned at the earliest. He said mega-development projects have been taken up in the sector and the same would create durable assets for urbanites of the State.
