Demise of founder of Jammu Blind School ‘Sharma’ condoled

Jammu Dec 7: Management and students of Blind school Jammu condoled the untimely demise of J P Sharma founder of Jammu Blind School who breathed his last on 05.12.2011 at his native place Grether Ganj, Kote Dewar Uttranchal Pardesh.
In a condolence meeting J&K Social Welfare Department, students/management of Blind Schools paid tributes to departed soul and prayed for peace of departed soul.
According to press statement J P Sharma founder of School for Blinds in Jammu born in 1935 in vill Grether Ganj, Kote Dewar, Uttranchal Pardesh. alongwith another Blind student of Kashmir namely Makhan Lal Koul, went to Kashmir alongwith Koul met the then Prime Minister of Jammu & Kashmir Bakshi Ghulam Mohd and motivated him with his innovative programme for opening of Braille School in J&K for challenging Blind persons of Society. “His proposal was accepted by the then Prime Minister and one Blind School was opened in Jammu and earlier the said school was started in Ved Mandir, Karan Nagar Jammu and J.P Sharma was engaged as a Braille Tutor for the then enrolled Blind inmates, it added.
Besides teaching at school, Sharma continued his studies and obtained Master Degrees in M.A English and M.A Hindi from Jammu University and also has worked as a Superintendent for Blind School in 1990. Apart from different awards and credits for his services, the departed soul was also rewarded President Medal for his contributions to society. He was retired during the year 1993 and there after he left for his native place Grether Ganj in Uttranchal Pardesh where he breathed his last on 05.12.2011 at the age of76 years. He is left with three daughters, one son and wife, the statement said..
During the condolence Khalida Begum, Supdt Blind School Jammu, Ram Dass Dubey, General Secretary State Blind Association Jammu, Master Kartar Chand of Poonch, Master Suraj Singh and Behari Lal, teacher paid rich tributes to the departed soul.
