| Sarpanchs demand empowerment of Panchayats | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
KATHUA, Dec 7:The Sarpanches of the Kathua have conducted a meeting regarding their demands for empowerment of the newly elected representatives of Panchayats and the disposal of pending development works of their respective areas which is allegedly due to the negligence of the State Government and district administration.
The meeting was headed by the Sarpanch of panchayat Badala Yash Paul Raina, Sarpanch of panchayat Janglote Ragunandan Singh, Sarpanch Balwant Singh of Hut panchayat. They criticized the state coalition Govt for holding the bogus and fake promises to give legal powers to the Sarpanches of the state in order to empower them The Sarpanchs said the panchayat is the fundamental and basic unit of the democratic set of the country but Omar Abdullah’s false promises to empower the panchayat has hampered the growth of democracy.
While speaking on the occasion the Sarpanch Yash Paul Raina said that the office of the BDO Kathua has laying vacant for the last more than three months due to which several development works have been suspended and delayed.
