NC created Frankestein, says Mehbooba | HT SUMMIT | | RUSTAM JAMMU, Dec 7: The HT-sponsored this year's Leadership Summit witnessed two Kashmiri leaders, NC president and Union Minister for Renewable Energy, Farooq Abdullah, and PDP president and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly, Mehbooba Mufti, speaking on Jammu and Kashmir and issues concerning it. They spoke on the theme "Settling Disputes for a Common Cause". Farooq Abdullah did not surprise the nation by saying the accession of the state with India was voluntary and not through coercive means. He only restated the truth. He could change his stand anytime. He has done so umpteen times. It was Mehbooba Mufti who did some plain-speaking. She said that it was the subversion of democratic processes that led to the rise of secessionist violence in the state. She asserted that Jammu & Kashmir stood away divisive politics and acceded to India. She held the Abdullah dynasty squarely responsible for the subversion of democratic processes in the state, but without naming it. She reportedly said: "The Centre is 'regulating democracy' in the State which is creating 'Frankestine'. By Frankestein, I mean we have an example of (Syed Ali) Geelani saab. He was elected thrice in the Assembly and we have seen him performing, working like any other MLA, may be he had a different ideology. So, similarly there were people who would have been part and parcel of the democratic process but were stopped from the very beginning since 1951 itself…By rigging in 1987 chief of militant group Hizbul |
