Raj Bhawan wants Sahni to continue as acting VC of JU, successor still suspense | | | Mishu Gupta JAMMU, Dec 7: Prof. Varun Sahni is unlikely to be relieved until new Vice-chancellor of Jammu University does not take over. Sources said that certain officials in Chief Minister's secretariat verbally intimated Commissioner/Secretary Higher Education Tanveer Jahan that if the vice-chancellor leaves on his own, she would be officiating vice-chancellor of Jammu University until the search committee concludes the job and names the person for being appointed as VC. On the contrary, Raj Bhawan is in no mood to relieve Sahni. Principal Secretary to Governor R.K.Goyal when contacted said "Act is very much clear. Until the new VC is not appointed, the present incumbent would continue." Sources said that Sahni has already packed off and wants to leave as early as possible. They added that Sahni along with two other officials of the University have been impatiently waiting to receive a fax from Governors office intimating him that he has been relieved of his duty while the charge has been handed over to some one else. Sources disclosed that three officials were sitting together at the vice chancellors residendnce in the University till 8.30 PM They added that Sahni had on at the beginning of this week during a meeting with Governor N.N.Vohra outrightly refused to continue as acting Vice-Chancellor (VC).
