Employees protest for clearing arrears of 6th pay commission | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Dec 8: Employees of different government departments today took to the streets in Srinagar in support of their ten demands, including payment of arrears of sixth pay commission recommendations.
After marching through different streets in the civil lines, the employees under the banner of Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) alleged that the government had failed to implement the agreements reached with them on different issues.
However, after staging a dharna for some time, the employees dispersed peacefully.
Later, talking to reporters, the EJAC leaders threatened to intensify their agitation if their demands were not met immediately.
They said the demands included payment of sixth pay commission arrears on the analogy of Central government employees, confirmation and regulatisation of daily wagers, adhocs, Rehbar-e-Taleem, contractual teachers, fair price shop dealers of Food and Supplies, anganwari workers and helpers.
Their other deamnds were implementation of sixth pay commission report in all public sector understandings, release of 7 per cent DA, medical claim cover to all government, semi-government and public sector employees, enhancement in the wages of daily wagers and removal of pay anomalies.
