Red Cross Meal organised at GCW Parade | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8:Government College for Women (GCW), Parade Ground, Jammu organized Red Cross Mela today. The mela included stalls containing fun activities/games, Swings and rides, a number of eatables and small sale counters containing different interesting products of day to day use. Besides this awareness generation programme was held on blood group analysis, AIDS awareness and the related activities apart from blood donation camp in which a number of girl students of the college donated their blood voluntarily. The Career Counselling and Placement Cell of the college also organized a placement drive in collaboration with ‘Aspiring Minds’, a multinational company having tie up with more than 100 MNCs. Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik was the Chief Guest on the occasion. He appreciated the efforts of the college in the organization of such mega events and called it was a wonderful chance for local businesses, educational institutions and other organizations to showcase their services and products. Anil Padha, Honorary Sector, Indian Red Cross Society, Jammu was also present on the occasion. Principal of the College, Dr. Kiran Bakshi applauded the efforts of the staff and students and said that the mela was organized to familiarize the students with the industry, small business and profit groups that play a significant role in the larger community of which they are a part. She also cherished the organization of the placement drive and said that it is for the first time that placement drive of such a big magnitude was organized in the state wherein more than 1200 students of different streams got themselves registered.
