| Chand Deepika’s ‘Uphaar’ released | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Dec 8:In an impressive function held at KL Saigal Hall here on today, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and Rashtra Bhasha Prachar Samiti, Jammu jointly released Chand Deepika’s latest short story collection “Uphaar”.
The function was presided over by Dr. Vaid Kumari Ghai while former Deputy Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion. Other dignitaries who attended the function included Prof Satya Pal Shrivatsa and Prof Lalit Magotra among others.
In her presidential address Dr Ghai appreciated the Academy f or supporting the literary organisations of Jammu region. She also enjoined upon the Academy authorities that they should keep up the good work.
Earlier welcoming the guests, Additional Secretary, Jammu, Savita Bakshi said that the Academy was meant to promote literary activities and the organisation was active on this front.
Speaking on the occasion, Mangat Ram Sharma said that he was happy to be part of literary events like the present one and expressed his desire that he would love to attend such functions in future also.
Deepkia’s ‘Uphaar’ was fully appreciated by Dr Aruna Sharma who, in her paper, spoke in detail on all the aspects of this short story collection which comprises eighteen stories.
