DD Kashir to telecast “Kali Barf’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8:In order to showcase the life and culture of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashir Channel of Doordarshan is all set to telecast weekly Urdu drama serial "‘Kali Barf’,” by Mushtaq Kak for thirteen weeks from tomorrow. ‘Kali Barf’ is the saga of the essence of Kashmiriyat, the indomitable Kashmiri diaspora, blessed with eternal faith in humanity and human values. In the stream of their pain and suffering blooms the lotus of hope. In Kashmiri language ‘Kali Barf’ (Kruhun Sheen) means the impossible, that which can never happen. The Serial presents the contemporary reality and establishes that the situation is not totally devoid of possibilities; the snow has not turned black yet. This message is conveyed through the families of Pandit Wakhloo (Tatha ji) and Dr Naseer-ud-Din Dar, who are a part of displaced Kashmiris, banished from their homeland. But a string force of trust and hope, personified in the protagonist Sharika works as a sheet anchor against all odds. The Serial ends on this very positive note –snow has not turned black yet. The Serial has been produced and directed by well known theatre, television and film personality Mushtak Kak. Written by well known writer Meera Kant, the serial was earlier produced as a play at Shriram Centre of Performing Arts, New Delhi and directed by Mushtaq Kak, the then Artistic Director of the Centre.
