2 bovine smuggling bids foiled , 4 held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 08: Two bovine smuggling bids were today foiled by police in Udhampur and Kathua with the arrest of four persons. Police sources said two bovine smugglers were apprehended at Bashaiti in Chenani area of Udhampur while they were taking seven animals to Kashmir on foot. They were identified as Manzoor Ahmed, son of Kala Bakkarwal, and Mohammad Mirza, son of Mir Waz, both residents of Sarar, Chenani. They were taken into custody by a police team led by SHO of Chenani police station. Police had registered a case against them under section 188 of RPC and section 3 of PC Act. Two smugglers, who had five animals with them, took the Ranjit Sagar dam lake route in a steamer. They had brought the animals from Punjab but after they alighted from the steamer at Basohli, cops caught hold of them and seized the animals. Sources identified them as steamer driver Raj Kumar, son of Gian Chand of Sarti, Punjab, and Mohammad Akhtar, son of Mohammad Yasin of ward No 11, Basohli. A case against them was registered at Basohli police station.
