12/8/2011 10:39:49 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
RAJOURI, Dec 8:Medium to heavy rainfall today in major portion of Rajouri district has brought cheers to the farming community as from the past more than one month; there was no rain in this border district.
With no proper rainfall in the recent past, the crop of wheat and other yields in agricultural fields got affected besides it also raised viral infections and diseases particularly the water borne ones.
However, this long spell of dryness was washed away today with medium to heavy rainfall in a large area of Rajouri district. The hilly district of Rajouri was lashed with rain which was playing hide-n-seek since Wednesday night
This rainfall will not only provide required moisture content in the soil for wheat crop but will also help in bringing down the viral infections.
The people of Rajouri were waiting for water from sky for the past 2-3 weeks as it was of utmost importance now for healthy growth and development of wheat crop. At last the long wait ended today, said a local farmer, Behari Lal.
