Bowlers dominate on day-1 of J&K-Orissa tie | Cooch Behar U-19 Plate Group-A Match | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Dec 8: Bowlers dominated on day-1 of the 4-day Cooch Behar U-19 Plate Group-A match between Jammu and Kashmir and Orissa, which got underway at GGM Science College, Hostel ground, here today J&K were 82/3 at stumps, after bundling out Orissa for a paltry total of 185 runs in the first innings. Paras Sharma was unbeaten on 12 runs and Aaqib Nazir on 14 when the play was called off today. Skipper Sidharth Magotra top scored with 39 runs with the help of seven splendid boundaries, while his opening partner Pranav Gupta contributed 14 runs to the total. Bandey was out for naught. A Paramanik took two wickets for Orissa, while HS Pati claimed one. Earlier, Orissa skipper SB Pajra won the toss and elected to bat first. J&K bowled with a nagging line and length to bundle out them for 185 runs. Opening batsman AR Sarangi scored superb half-century (50), while AB Bhatta and PB Paramanik contributed 41 runs each. For J&K, spinner SS Rizvi scalped 4 wickets by conceding 35 runs in his 12 overs, while seamer Rohit Sharma claimed 3/33 in 15 overs that he bowled today. Speedster Soumay Jain claimed 2 wickets in 11.4 overs, while Umar Nazir Mir, who shared the opening spell with Soumay Jain, gave J&K breakthrough by dismissing opener Praharaj for 9 runs. J&K still trail by 103 runs with seven wickets in hand. Meanwhile, the match was officiated by Ravi Shankar and Manish Jain as umpires, Ajay Chopra officiated as online scorer, while Ashwani Kumar and Vivek Sharma acted as manual scorers. |
