| Director Agriculture Kashmir, others booked for bungling in purchase of seeds | | | Srinagar, Jan 11 The State Vigilance Organization has registered a case against Director Agriculture Kashmir, Joint director Agriculture Inputs and a supplier for causing a loss of Rs9.46 lakhs to the state exchequer by affecting purchases of hybrid seeds on exorbitant rates which were received in government stores after expiry of the sowing season. The seeds, which have a shelf life of six months, are lying in stores and can't be used now. The officials including the Director have also committed bungling in purchase of 65o irrigation pumps worth Rs 1.18 crores from a Delhi based firm in February 2002 by issuing a pre-dated order of December 2005 without any requisition and fair competition.
