Govt set to take action against land mafia, dismantle community halls on state land

JAMMU, Dec 8: The Government has decided to take action against the land mafia in the state who have converted thousands of kanals of state and religious places land for commercial purposes illegally.
According to high placed sources the Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Minister has recently been asked by the Chief Minister to prepare a file regarding to all those people who are involved in illegal sale of state land in J&K for commercial purposes.
Sources said the Revenue Ministry has also issued the respective divisional Commissioners and deputy commissioners to submit the immediate report in this regard so that that Government can take a lawful action against them.
Sources said that Chief Minister has received hundreds of applications from the people all over the state complaining that thousands of kanals of state land and Ahal hanood land has been grabbed by land mafia who have either sold it for commercial purposes or have themselves raised commercial structures over it resulting into a lot of resentment among the people.
Sources said that thousands kanals of the state land which was used for grazing the cattle by people or nomads for years together has been encroached by land mafia and people dependent on the cattle for earning their living have left with no option but sell the same as they are losing the pastures and meadows being encroached by land mafia.
Sources said the most of community halls and farm houses in outskirts of Jammu city have been built by encroaching the state land by the land mafia. The community halls have added to the woes of the common man especially in the areas where they have come as they have added to public nuisance mostly.
Sources said recently Deputy Commissioner Jammu on the instructions of higher ups in the Government has launched a drive to notify the state land which has been illegally occupied by the land mafia and over which the community halls have been constructed.
Sources said that as per the complaints filed by the people before the Government against the land grabbers at various places the land of children's grave yards have been grabbed for construction of community halls. The people in their complaints have alleged that the land meant for grave yards for decades together has been encroached by the land mafia and in the event of the death of an infant in their locality the parents have to bury him in their compound.
The people have warned the Government that in case the land was not restored to the public they will be forced to launch agitation. Sensing a public revolt the Government has decided to take timely action against the land grabbers.
It has decided to dismantle all the community halls on state land and free it from the clutches of alnd mafia.
